Mudhugger Ltd 11 years and counting - a brief history

The first prototype Mudhugger was made and tested during October 2012, following the wettest summer on record in the UK. Made from an old seat post mudguard a couple of bits of aluminium sheet and some pop rivets, it was obvious after the first couple of rides that the principle worked.
This was quickly followed by an extended version (the first was clearly too short) using lots of ductape, along with some refinements in the shape and some experiments in how to attach it to the bike.
Looking back it's hard to believe we managed to get a working prototype ready in just over 3 months to show the guys and gals at Bikeradar what we had come up with. Even harder to believe that the first 6 prototypes cost us over £1000 each! And they were still too short (a mistake most of those who have copied the Mudhugger design have since made too)!
The rest, as they say, is history.
